All is Well !

Went for my doctor's appointment today and was happy to hear that all is well. Doc wasn't too impressed that I have gained 4 pounds so quickly. Like I said in an earlier post I feel like an elephant.

Speaking of elephants I went shopping this weekend because I'm travelling this week to see family in Australia so I went to buy some stuff to take with us. Anyway I noticed that many Thailand souveniers etc all have elephant prints on them. I'm not really to sure about the importance of the animal but I'm guessing they are pretty important here in Thailand, may be even Asia for that matter.

My Tanysha is on school holidays and tomorrow we are both going on a day trip to Ayutthaya in Bangkok. I am looking forward to it and so is Tanysha. She is excited to see the elephants. I'm hoping it's a good trip. We're going with some of the Moms from Tanysha's school. I'll share photo's tomorrow.

Hope you all had a good Monday.

Friday Thanks ...

Today I’ve decided to start my “Thankful Friday’s”. So much happens in a week that I want to list at least 10 things for which I am thankful for.

So here goes…………

1. Thank you Lord for my children and thank you that they had a safe week at school.

2. I’m thankful that my sister has returned to college safely and is ready for another busy year.

3. Thank you Lord for the food on our table all week and that we have a roof over our head.

4. I’m thankful for the wonderful women I met this week and had lunch with them. This is the beginning to new friendships.

5. Thank you that my dear hubby loves me for me (and although I forgot Valentines Day) he still loves me.

6. Thank you for my parents who are well and have agreed to come and visit me here in Thailand. (It has been difficult to convince them to come – they have many commitments at home and they find it hard to step away for them).

7. Thank you Lord that although I don’t feel attractive or fashionable in my 24th week of pregnancy, I know who I am in Christ and I’m able to find peace in my heart as God reminds me of where real beauty comes from. Thank you too that I am blessed to be able to bear children. That in itself is a gift.

8. Thank you Lord that although my Renee is a younger 3rd grader and relatively new to her school she is doing well academically and has really settled in. (I received her progress report and am pleased with how she is doing).

9. Thank you Lord for my children’s teacher’s who are great women and really have a heart for the children they teach.

10. Thank you Jesus for your love towards me and your gift of salvation and that your grace and mercies are new every morning. Thank you for revealing yourself to me again and teaching me new things from your Word.

So hear is my list for this week. Again there are so many things to be thankful for but these 10 are what I am really thankful for this week.

I have a busy weekend coming up – we’re traveling in 5 days and I have to pack. I hate packing. I would just love to get on the plane and be off. But that is not possible. Just not possible!!
We’re off to Melbourne, Australia to visit my sister in law and her family. I’m excited and so are my girls. I love flying!!

Valentine's Day

Today I completely forgot that it's Valentines Day. And so did my husband!!

I know, I know how could I you say - well I really don't know. maybe it's because of where I'm living. It's not really such a big thing here in Thailand. The TV stations don't have ads bombarding us with what special gift is out there for your other half. I don't know.

But anyway seeing that today is a day set aside for me to remember my other half and my children and all those dear to me I am reminded of my devotion that I read a couple of days ago. Which really did challenge my heart and prompt me to ask some tough questions:

Do I love my husband well?

Do I adore the man God has given to me?

Am I admiring him as a child of God?

Am I appreciating him for who he is today instead of what he could be if he lived up to my expectations?

Am I giving my heart freely or do I make him feel as though he constantly has to earn my love?

These are tough questions and you know what love is a commitment to hardwork.

As I go through this day I am trying to answer each question truthfully.

I love my dear husband and I consider myself to be a very lucky (blessed) woman to have him in my life. Sometimes I do take him for granted and maybe it's days like these that are here to remind me to really appreciate him and to let him know that I love him for him.

Not with gifts but to verbally remind him that I love him and appreciate him.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY !!

I Need a New Bible.

Okay the other day I picked up my bible to read and I realised that it's falling apart. I've actually known this for a while but don't want to replace it until last night. You see I've had this bible since I was in college and that is nearly 14 years ago. I love this bible, it's small, compact and it fits into any bag. But the real problem is that it is getting a little harder for me to read because the print on it is small.

Reality check - I am getting a little older and it's getting a little harder to read smaller print. So I've decided that I will need to invest in a new bible. Now this is a hard thing to do because there are so many great bibles out there and I have to find one that is suitable for me and maybe most importantly large enough print for my aging eyes.

Book Review - "A Mom After God's Own Heart"

Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it springs the issues of life.
Proverbs 4:23.

It is all about the heart! Every thing I do, everything I say, every choice I make reveals the condition of my heart. Boy that is a challenging truth, hard to accept but the truth. The Bible does say out of the heart comes forth the issues of life.
As I continue to read the above mentioned book Elizabeth George points out that in order for me to be effective in directing my children's hearts towards God I need to check out my own heart first and know what condition it is in. Mothering, committing, praying and dedicating, dealing with and disciplining my children all starts in my heart.

I need to take time to nourish my own heart first, I need to seek God first, read His word first and have God deal with my heart first. It's a tough truth but a very real truth that I need to face.
Really, how can I possibly expect to talk/share with my children about a God I may know about in my head but not in my heart.
The heart is really what matters here!

TGIM (Thank God It's Monday)

I love the weekends but I think I love Mondays more!! I know I know most people dread mondays but I like them. The weekends are great because as a family we do things together as and then it's also a great time to just relax. Do nothing but just be together.
The reason I love mondays is that after the weekends it's good to get back to the routine of the week. Structure for the my girls and also for myself. It's great.

Hope you all had a good monday.

Tomorrow is not Promised to Anyone.

Today I am left to contemplate the reality that life is truly fragile and that tomorrow is never promised to anyone. I received news from home that I lost a dear cousin in a fire. She was apparently burnt along with her home. It breaks my heart that she was lost to us in that manner. And I really can’t wrap my head around it. As a believer though, I am comforted to know that she has gone to our Father in a new body to be at peace, rest and joy as she has come face to face with her Creator.
My heart is heavy and it has put a whole new perspective on life. It’s a reminder to me of what is of true importance in our day to day lives, and that is relationships. Relationships with our families and relationships with our friends. Those are the tangibles that will always remain with us.

22 Weeks and Counting

I'm getting heavy and I still have a fair way to go. Today I am officially 22 weeks into my pregnancy. I feel great and I have this renewed energy. Which is way better than my early days. And I'm keeping myself busy and I'm also trying to be active but I feel like I'm putting on weight way too fast because I feel like an elephant!!
If you've seen the side bar of my blog you will notice my latest cravings. I know there is a Starbucks Frappucinno in there but I think this is one craving I can (and must) control. I'm sure these craving will change as I progress in my weeks.

My body is sore from yesterday's yoga class but this is something I'm going to commit too. The classes are 3 times a week and I 'm going to try and attend all 3. I'me also looking into joining a prenatal swimming class. The weather here has been so humid lately that I just don't want to get out there and walk anymore like I was a couple of weeks ago, so I figure swimming would be the best way to go.

Otherwise all is well and I'm actually enjoying this pregnancy.
Till next time......

I can't believe they lost - yeah that's right I can't believe the NE Patriots lost. I guess no one (team) is perfect!!

Today was a another step forward in my commitment to staying active during my pregnancy. I went to a yoga class and really enjoyed it. There were 6 of us in the class and we're all about the same in terms of how far we are into our pregnancy. Although I was the only one who is on their 3rd child!
Not only did we stretch a lot but I didn't realise a lot of the focus is on our breathing and I know when the time comes breathing is going to be crucial.

I didn't enjoy the long ride in the car. The traffic in Bangkok is horrible. The car is truly king here. It takes forever to get to places!

Growing Up!

Hope you all had a great weekend. I did.
This weekend I helped Renee my 8 yr old with a school project. She had to do her autobiography. While helping her out I realised how much she has grown and also how much we have moved from country to country in her short life. I also remember moving quite a lot when I was growing up because of my Dad's job, and never did I imagine that I would be doing the same with my kids.

Well we got her autobigraphy done. My baby has grown up so fast it's amazing. It really does only seem like she was born yesterday. I ony look at her growth and change in years and I don't realise that I too am also growing in age every year.

Have a great week.

Being a SAHM!

I have now been a SAHM for the last 3 years and I am still trying to get used to it!! I know you think I'd be used to it by now but I'm not. Some days are better than others, and today was one of those days for which I am thankful and grateful to be a Stay At Home Mum.
Tanysha had her sports day and it was great to be able to be there. It would have been difficult to attend this special day for Tanysha had I been working.

I guess everything has it's good and bad. I understand there is this big debate on which is better but those thoughts and debate are for another day. For today I am just thankful that I was there for my daughter and I know she was happy to see me there cheering her and her team along.

Have a great weekend everyone.
