Today is …….

a special day for 2 very important  people in my life.

Firstly to the one who made me mother - my daughter who today turns

(photo is Renee when she was around a year and a half)

She’s excited and I know it’s a big moment for her, but I’m a  little sad.  It does make you realize how quickly they grow up.  Oh where has the time gone too?

Happy Birthday Renee.   I love you!!

"Grow in the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Get to know Him better. Give Him glory both now and forever.
Amen."
(
2 Peter 3:18, NIrV)

And secondly…..

Birthday wishes to the person I know as friend, counselor, and Mother.  Whom I know in my heart did the very best she knew for me and my siblings.

I love her and I thank her. DSCF3018

Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.     Proverbs 31: 25

Who would have known that you would both share the same birth date!

Happy Birthday to the both of you.

I love you both now and always.

So although my mother is so far away from me I trust that she will be having a great day today.  I know that my sister will make sure that mum gets her favorite cake which is and has always been a Black Forest cake – oh yum!

As for my daughter well it’s school as usual but her teacher has graciously allowed me to take in treats for her class.  Nothing too fancy - cupcakes and mini marshmallow smoothies.

I have a busy day ahead of me but all will be done in love.

DSCF9941the picture is of  my smoothie which I had to test before I make a whole lot for the kids.  It’s actually quite delicious.  The green box is a gift for Renee and behind the smoothie is the cupcakes which I will be frosting later on today.

Hair Cuts and Astrology.

Last Friday I went to a hairdresser to get some help for my hair that has become boring and unruly.

Not only did I get help for my hair, but a whole lot more.

You see  not only is he a good hairdresser but he’s also an astrologer.  I’ve never met (or believe in for that matter) an Astrologer.  He sat there doing his thing on my hair and asked me when my birthday was and so I told him.  After a couple of minutes of silence he started telling me things about me. What I’ve done and what I should think about doing.

Like I said I’ve never met an Astrologer and don’t read too much into horoscopes, but this guy was interesting to listen too.   He said some true things about me and suggested interesting projects that I should think about doing.

Anyway I walked out happy.  Not because of what he said, because he did say some true and lovely things but mostly because he made my hair look good!

Sorry no photo’s but I do have these.

Picture’s of my son who gets a hair cut/trim  every so often.  And he enjoys it.

Friday’s Fave Five # 32

FFF fall leaves 2It’s Friday! And it’s that time again for favorites.  Head on over to Susanne’s to read more favorites and thanks Susanne for hosting Favorite Five’s.

I hope you all had a great week.

I did and didn’t but in the end it’s all good.  There are a lot of things to be thankful for.  Really the fact that I got to live another day is reason enough for it to be good.

So here are my five for this week:

1. First up I won something.  I never have any luck when it comes to winning something from raffle tickets.  But yesterday I won something.  I didn’t believe it at first.  But it was no joke.   I won a night for 2 at the Zign Hotel  at Pattaya.  I was so thrilled.  And best of all – all the proceeds to the raffle ticket sales go to various charity’s here in Bangkok.The-Zign-Hotel-Pattaya

2.   Fellowship and Bible Study.  I really enjoyed my bible study this week.  Even though it made me feel uncomfortable, but it was good uncomfortable- if you know what I mean.  We talked about goodness, and how goodness does.  How it is “character energized” .  I’ve  learnt a lot not only from reading the study material and my bible but also from listening to the other woman.  Hearing about their experiences.  Both inspiring and challenging.

3.  Arnotts Chocolate Mint Slice.  I’m just loving these biscuits at the moment with a nice cup of tea.  Maybe just a little too much though…. oh well.

4.   Watching Renee play and take care of this little girl from one of the orphanages nearby.  For an after school activity she volunteers to visit and play with kids from nearby orphanages.  It’s great to see her spend her time and energy for these kids who come from so many problems.

5.    Cool weather and Sunsets.  And being there to see them.  Just so peaceful and beautiful.  This picture is of the lake that our community is built around.

So there is my five but so sorry I have to include a 6th one - Congratulations to the New York Yankees.  Oh yeah I watched the games (thank you ESPN) and it was great.

Happy Weekend Everyone.

Corner View – Contrasts.

Welcome to Corner View.

This weeks theme is “Contrasts”.  Hmm contrasts.  Well there are so many out there.  So to help me out,  here is one definition (there are many) from the web :

To show differences when compared:

So firstly here is a contrast in Bangkok, Thailand that I’m sure is also true in many other parts of the world.

DSC06610[4]Sky rise buildings will always make you look up and notice the beauty and nice things but up front,  and closer to the ground well,  there is the reality.  Filled with people who can only look up and wish.  This is always a sad reality.

This picture was taken from the expressway on my way home.

Secondly, well this one is close to my heart and makes my life all the more interesting.

Siblings;

who contrast sharply in their interests and abilities.DSCF5845

It’s kind of crazy sometimes that these kids have the same mother and father – but are also 3 totally different children in their own right.

Which makes my job (and my husbands) that much more tricky.  One size (or same rules, discipline etc, etc etc)  definitely does not fit all!!
