Corner View - School

Hooray for Corner View.  I hope you all had a great summer and are ready for the new year! (well a new school year that is)

I loved school.  Every stage that I went through, I enjoyed.  From elementary, to middle and high school and even college.  But the stage that stands out the most for me would have to be middle school which I did at a boarding school.  Yes, at the tender age of 11 I was sent off .  Of course it was difficult in the beginning, especially to be away from my family but as time went by I grew up, made some wonderful friends and to this day I have no regrets.

Actually looking back on the whole boarding experience, I think it prepared me in so many ways for the kind of life that I live now – having to move and make our home in new places every 3 or 4 years.

Today I’m thankful for the school that my kids go to. it’s diverse, and I feel geared towards raising not only academically prepared students but also to be contributing global citizens.  ISB Panorama

In the 3 years I’ve been here I’m always amazed at how the children are so accepting of each other and how willing and interested they are to learn about each others countries.  Even today my first grader came home  excited to tell me that one of her classmates was celebrating a Jewish holiday and that they got to share food together that his mother had brought in for the whole class.

I just love that – for me those are  precious learning moments.  IMG_0405 entrance to the elementary school.

love that quote at the end. so true. and what an optimistic post. i am afraid that my own school days were not so positive. it's so great to hear that someone had a great time all through their schooling.
