Friday’s Fave Five # 43

FFF snowflakes

It’s been a busy week.  My days have been  full of activity and very eventful. But at the end of each day, I have laid in my bed and smiled and I’m thankful.

Thankful for…..

1.  My bed, specifically the mattress.  When we first bought the mattress I wasn’t too sure about it.  It was expensive and I’ve learnt that expensive does not always mean better.  But these last couple of days as I’ve staggered into bed when all has been done for the day I’m so thankful that we made that decision to buy a good mattress.

2.  Generosity and Kindness.  A couple  of weeks ago I sent out letters requesting sponsorships for a gymnastics competition that our school team is hosting.  It’s our first ever competition and naturally we’d like to be good hosts.  I have shamelessly picked up the phone and followed up on the letters and even made contact with companies that I didn’t initially think of sending letters too.  Let me just say it’s been a great week and companies and individuals have stepped up.  Thank you, thank you.  I’m so grateful.

3.  The Good Wife and The Mentalist.  I’m loving these TV shows.  The titles didn’t interest me in the beginning but now I’m addicted.

4. Lost another pound.  I started out the year with a goal to loose at least 4  - 5 pounds a month.  It’s the end of January and I didn’t make it.  I lost 3 though and I’m okay with that.  I’m working to tweak a couple of things in this lifestyle change.

5.  Practical Church and hearing my kids tell me that they love going to church.  I’m a believer and of course I hope that my kids will also believe and make that decision to follow Christ.  I feel responsible to make sure that I expose them to church but of course  in the end that is their decision to make.  For right now though they are loving church and it’s something they look forward too.  They’re also both interested in getting  involved with Operation Smile.  Tanysha told me after church that she has to save some money to help some children smile.

So there’s my five for this week.  I hope you’ve all had a great week. For more Five’s head on over to Susanne’s at Living To Tell the Story.

Happy Weekend.

Kari it is good to have a good mattress. I'm glad yours was a good choice. Generosity is a lovely thing to experience. We enjoy the Mentalist, too. We haven't watched The Good Wife.
It's good to be on the losing end instead of the gaining when it comes to weight. There are months that I'm just happy to at least stay the same and not gain :0)
All we can do is lead our kids and pray that God will have mercy on them. Praying right now that your kids will be saved and follow Christ....

I like that your weight loss goal is by month. That kind of helps make it long term and keeps perspective.

I really enjoy watching The Mentalist as well. I don't think I've seen the other show you talk about.

I love my bed too!

The Mentalist sounds nice. I wish I had time to watch it. It's great that your kids love to go to church. I haven't exposed mine to church for 2 years now.

It's great when kids enjoy going to church and are learning. So sweet of your girl to save her money for charity.

I love my mattress. A good night's sleep is so important.

It's great that you lost the three pounds and you are tweaking towards a healthy lifestyle rather than just "dieting". You'll be successful!

Laying a good foundation of loving church and loving God and wanting to serve and give, you are pointing your children to the path to peace with God. It's the most important thing a mom can do.

I love a good matress too! Note to self: it really is time to follow Kari's example and get a new good mattress!

I sigh with relief when I drop down on my mattress at the end of the day too. We have a good one plus a pad on top. it's lovely!

Glad, along with you, that your children love church - and are learning and growing in the love and knowledge of Jesus Christ. I think your love for the Lord and for them will be the strongest influence on their spiritual life. Church is a close second.

Did I ever tell you how much I love your banner? It's gorgeous!

Happy weekend!

Those are two of my favorite shows, too! It seems there's so little worth watching these days, but we love those. My hubby and I schedule time together to watch those each week.

So great that your kids are happy in church. Such a wonderful foundation for them. What better place to feel comfortable?

Happy weekend!

I like your monthly goal for weight loss -- it sounds a lot less daunting that way!
