Corner View – White in Thailand.

Thanks Jane for Corner View and thank you to Natsumi for this weeks theme – White.

Here are a couple of  pictures from my corner and my home.

First around Thailand.

Monk dressed in WHITE.white monk

This is a woman monk, rare but not uncommon.

Jasmine flowers.

sold by a street vendor.  These flowers are bought and offered at the temples or spirit houses everywhere.

Silk Worms.

silk worms in basket

which just happen to be white caterpillars.

Before I go on I just got to add these – white with a little yellow.  These are silk worm cocoons.

silk worm cacoons

which eventually end up being spun into something beautiful.

Like this – white silk wrap.

And now for some white in my house.

White Elephants DSCF8733

I bought these at a craft market.  White elephants are significant animals in Thailand, but that’s for another post, another day.

Shells.DSCF8684 that I display in my house. Back in  PNG these are used for bride price.

White picture frame.DSCF8692

this was a happy day.

which allow the flowers to be any color.

Large white candle against a white wall.DSCF8703

and a white lotus with  scented candlesDSCF8720

Well there you have it.  That is the White in my world.

Make sure to travel and see other corner views from Jane’s side bar. I’m sure it will be inspiring.

HHM-new one

Oh it’s Monday Again.  I miss the weekend already and can’t wait for the next one!!   Anyway  here’s my Monday in a Happy Homemaker.

The weather in my neck of the woods:
hot and humid.  Please let it rain!

One of my simple pleasures:
Midday naps.

On my bedside table:
Bible Study and Weight Watchers “Complete Food Companion”.

On my TV:
Play house Disney.

On the menu for tonight:
Asian Grilled Chicken and Salad.

On my To Do List:
Finish Bible Study homework.
Write a letter to my Dad.
reschedule dental appointments

New Recipe I tried last week:
Sandra’s crock pot carrot cake.

Looking Forward to:
Friday.

Homemaking tip for this week:
nothing.

Favorite Blog posts:
didn’t read many blogs last week.

Favorite photos from last week:

Lesson learned the past few days:
That not only is it very important to help our children excel academically but help them develop their social skills.  Such skills should also be given the same importance.

On my Prayer List:
My husband – who travels off shore this week.
My family and friends near and far.

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses:

For God is greater than our hearts.  1 John 3:20.

Have a Happy Week!

Photo Hunt: Twisted.

photohunters2mo1

I have 2 photos for this weeks theme: TWISTED.

My first picture is of  twisted cables.  My lamps are still waiting for a home.

twisted cable for lamps outside

My second picture, well this one was just “twisted” and messed with my head.  I can’t remember what this animal is called.  If you do please help me out.  I do remember reading that the other end (not his head) is to protect itself and confuse it’s predators.

Friday’s Fave Five – # 27

springtime FF5

Wow, it’s Friday again.  Another week has gone by so very quickly.

Well if you are wondering what Fave Five is about, then click here.  And then why not join us to share your blessings.  It’s fun.

So here are my favorites for this week:

1.  Coffee with a friend.  This is always a good thing. It’s wonderful that we have a Starbucks so close by to us.  I enjoyed learning a little bit more about her and her family.  Oh and the mocha latte I had was just delicious!

2.  Seeing changes in my body.  I’ll be honest, it’s a little slow for my liking but I am seeing subtle  difference – especially in my arms.  And of course I’m feeling stronger.  I should be though I’ve been working hard…

3.   Joshua.  My son who is now 15months.  I love this age.  He is such a boy.  I know that probably sounds funny but he is my first boy and is so very different to the girls when they were this age.  But he is healthy and happy and so are we.

4.  Attending a Workshop/Parent’s Tea morning organised by the Intensive Studies Parent Support Group.  This week we had a counselor come and speak to us on the topic of “Friendship”.  I went because not only am I am interested in “child physcology (that is my next step after my Early Childhood Teaching course) but especially for my kids.  Just to hear what is normal and what isn’t and how to help our kids not only be good at making friends but also at keeping them.  I think  a great lesson for the parents too.

5.  My talented husband. (I think so anyway).  He made a bedside table and I think it looks great.  I plan on painting/decorating the sides with stencil or freehand.

Happy Friday and Happy Weekend everyone.

Thailand is full of Surprises.

Wow that was a fun corner view!  It was fun seeing so many different corners of the world.

We have some great photographers out there.  I’m thinking I should probably take a class or something because I just “point and shoot”.

Anyway  today was busy, running around buying some more stuff to send home to my family at home.  Their shipment should finally be out of here by the weekend.  Thankfully.

Well we were slowed down though for only a moment by this group – right outside my car window.  Well that would be the back window actually.

bulls in the street You are seeing right – they are a couple of buffaloes crossing the street.  Don’t know where they were heading to but it was interesting to see.

Made me laugh actually………

I’m looking forward to next week’s Corner View theme of White inspired by Natsumi.

Corner View: Out the Car Window.

Here are some pictures for this weeks Corner View.   The theme - “Outside the car window”.

I’ve complained many a times on this blog about the traffic here in Bangkok but for this weeks theme – sitting in traffic was actually a good thing.

Oh and before I share my pictures let me reveal a little bit more about me and my life here in Thailand.   I, actually we (my family) have a driver.  The company my husband works for discourages us from driving. So they provide vehicle and driver.   2 years into this assignment I  still haven’t decided whether i like having a driver or not.  I will share about this in another post…. someday.

Anyway so here are my pictures.  these pictures where taken on our way back from downtown Bangkok.

Motorcycles – and many of them.  It is the quickest way to get around. (if you are daring enough)

Temples.  And there are temples everywhere.

Reverence for the Buddhist faith is very strong in Thai culture, so there are temples (wat’s – as they say in Thai) everywhere be it in the city or village.   These temples are here to serve the society. And also great tourist attractions.

The toll – before we get on the expressway home.

The view from the expressway (it was  a clear day) home.

So there it is.  My pictures outside my car window.
