Corner View - Holidays

snapshots header

Corner View is back.  And I look forward to travelling the world, visiting other bloggers, learning and seeing.

So the holidays came and went and it was all about Thailand –  The Land of Smiles.

We’re going on our 3rd year here and it’s usually at this time that I start to get this  feeling that we may have to start counting down on our days  here.

With that knowledge we spent time as a family-meaning just us here in Thailand.  The last couple of Christmas holidays we’ve been with family on both sides in different countries.

So this time round we stayed put - decorated our tree, went all out with the Christmas lights, joined in the caroling and Christmas eve service.  Oh such beautiful moments for great memories.

DSCF0317DSCF0673christmas eveThe days before Christmas we went to Phuket and enjoyed the white sandy beaches.  It was beautiful,  warm and relaxing.  Everything they say about the beaches here is so true!DSCF1109DSCF1131 And after Christmas Day we headed inland away from the beach and to a waterfall. For more of our holiday photo’s click here.DSCF2047The holidays are really all about family. Whether you are with your own or extended families  it’s always wonderful to be together.

Now back at home (Papua New Guinea) I know my parents would have dressed in their clan colors and also get everyone else in the house dressed and headed out to the village for a sing sing of prophet songs.  I miss those sing sings.  I really do and I hope my kids will someday be able to be apart of them.

Kari, I do hope your kids will be part of their family traditions very soon, that's how traditions are brought forward! Still, a holiday spent getting to learn a little more about where you're currently living, and where your kids' childhood memories are rooted seems a very special holiday.
