Every Day……

at my daughters school we all stand still in the mornings as the Thai national anthem is played and the flag is raised.

For the past 2 years this is something that Tanysha and I have done every morning.  In fact this is something that this school has always been doing.  Personally I think it is a  wonderful thing to do.  To stand and listen to the country’s anthem as the flag is being raised.  I know that not everyone at the school is Thai, like I shared last week there are 22 different countries represented at this small school but I still think it’s great.

I also know there are some in the school both Thai’s and foreigners who aren’t to happy that every morning we have to listen to the anthem as the flag is raised, and I don’t know why.  But like I said I think it’s great.  As a visitor to this country, I don’t mind.  And for my daughter she learns respect.  Respect of another’s country and recognition of the country that she lives in, their anthem and their flag.

What are your thoughts.  Do you think the school is right in making this mandatory?  I know back at home in P.N.G. some schools have the children sing the anthem and then recite the pledge.  I am all for it.  What do you think?

Let’s talk.

I think it is correct.
