Despite the Turmoil – we are fine, really.

Many of you have probably seen the news of the chaos and turmoil here in Bangkok.  It has been a crazy, uneasy couple of days but all has settled down – I think.

We live about 20 minutes away from town so we are not in the thick of the protesting by the Red-shirt people.  As a guest to this beautiful country , and it really is beautiful, it’s hard to fully understand why such a testing time for their democracy.  I’ve read as much as I can about the situation but opinions and reasons are so many.

Yesterday was a very bad day in town – apparently it was reported that public buses were set on fire and a couple of people were killed.  It’s dangerous and we stay away from town when such protests happen.  Last time there was protesting from the yellow shirt people the airport was shut down.  And that was bad.

Otherwise it’s business as usual but we are being careful.  I know for certain though that we won’t be wearing any red or yellow T-shirts for a while!!
