The Little Green Project – Carpooling

I came across this idea at “HeavenlyHomemakers.Com” and wanted to share something that I never thought about too seriously until these  last couple of weeks.

So here’s to sharing:

I’ve been on the road a lot lately with the back and forth trips to the hospital because of my Dad.  And in those trip I was forced to take note of the number of vehicles on the road.. The number of vehicles with just the driver in them.

Now if you know anything about Bangkok, Thailand – the traffic is horrible. Everyday you are going to sit in traffic.  It can take over an hour to get to a destination that without the traffic would only take 15 to 20minutes tops. It can get frustrating.  Sometimes I just won’t go down town.

So it is during these trips I realized the importance of carpooling.  The need to carpool.  Not only will it help in reducing the number of vehicles on the road, making for bearable traffic,  but it would definitely reduce the gas emissions from all the vehicles.  On some days the smog is so thick it really is horrible.

I understand we have this need but I think we can be responsible. It would be unrealistic to think that our behaviors and habits will change over night because they won’t. But as an individual I can make small changes that would only make a  small difference but may lead to big changes,  if everyone pitches in.

So here’s my go green tip – Whenever you can “Carpool”.  Not only will it help the air and our environment but we could take turns saving gas.

Kari, I noticed that you have PNG time on your sidebar! I lived in Papua, Indonesia for a long time and my youngest dd spent 6 weeks in PNG a couple of summers ago. She loved it.

My son mentioned yesterday the possibility of getting rid of his car during grad school but is going to keep it and try to carpool with others as much as possible.
