1998

Today in EW (Encouraging Women) our bible study facilitator asked us to introduce our self to the group,  but the catch was we had to go back in time - 10 years to be exact.  So while I was waiting my turn and listening intently to the other ladies my mind went back to 1998.  When it came to my turn this is what I shared:

Hi my name is Kari Vagi (maiden name).  I work with the Finance Dept of Chevron Niugini and work a rotational schedule.  28 days on/28 days off.  I'm working 12 hour days but I love it.  Life is good.  I'm dating an engineer who also works up in the field.  Spiritually I am on fire for the Lord,  falling in love with Jesus everyday. I want to share Christ's love and this gift of salvation with anyone who will listen to me.  I'm fearless because "no weapon formed against me shall prosper".  and that's about it. Life is good.

After we went through the whole class I learnt of 2 other women in the group whose husbands also worked with Chevron Niugini and were doing the rotational schedule as well.  Although they rotated from Papua New Guinea all the way back to USA.  In fact I learnt that one of the woman's husband was one of my bosses in the Finance Dept. Small world!

At the end of the class the facilitator then asked us to introduce ourselves again but this time in the present - 2008.  And this is what I shared:

Hi, I'm Kari Baure.  I've been married for 10years to the man I was dating back in 1998.  We have 3 children - 8 , 4 and 3months.  This is our 3rd overseas assignment (Australia, USA and now Thailand).  I'm used to change and having to adapt on the fly - although it still scares me.  I'm still a Christian.  I still love Jesus but I'm not as bold as I was 10 years ago to share Christ's love.  I still believe that "no weapon formed against me shall prosper", but I feel like I'm just getting through the days.  I choose this bible study (The Purpose Driven Life) because I'm craving for some direction.  I believe God is taking me to different parts of the world for a reason - a purpose that I feel I haven't discovered yet.  I also hope this bible study will re-energize my Christian faith and stir up that fire in me that I will make me a bold christian again.

I'm excited that I choose the bible study that I did and like I shared earlier on I'm anticipating great things to happen while I go through this study.

So were where you in your life 10 years ago?

Here are 2 photo's from 1998 at the Chevron Site.

......Kari.
