This weeks Corner view – “Menu al dia”.
Thailand has a restaurant for everyone and every taste. Really every craving can be satisfied.
But if you were to come around to my corner, authentic Thai food would be something I’d encourage you to try. I know spicy is not for everyone but there are some Thai dishes that you can have minus the spice.
Like this one that I absolutely love. And that is Pad Thai. Pad Thai literally translated is “Thai style frying”.
It’s a dish of stir fried rice noodles with eggs, fish sauce, tamarind juice, red chilli pepper, plus any combination of bean sprouts, shrimp, chicken or tofu. And it’s garnished with crushed peanuts, coriander and lime. the juice can be added along with other Thai condiments.
This is one that you must try.
Before I go do you tip or not tip?
The last place I lived in was in USA and of course every time we went out for dinner at a restaurant we tipped. Even if the service was not that great, it was just one of those things. But here in Thailand tipping is not expected unless you have dinner at a hotel restaurant. But of course all waiters appreciate a small token but the usual 10% is not expected like it is in the West.
What are your thought on tipping…… Do share.

woow, I love Thai food !! Pad Thai is my favorite! I love to cook and make a variety of dishes but I have never made Thai food at home... I would love to try it next time!!
Have a great day!
I love thai food... Delicious!
We don't tip here but we pay fixed "service charges". I find it very annoying when I'm expected to tip. But, as you say, it's one of those habits.
As you know, we always tip and the amount is now 15 to 20 percent. I would love to just pay a fair price and forget the tipping. The problem is that it's spreading. It seems that everyone wants a tip now!
MMMMMMMMMM that looks so good. I tip well if the service is good and what I expect. However, if it's rotten I only give a small token. It's about service if you ask me. And 99% of the time it's always great :)
great shot. of course the pad thai is one of my favorites but yours looks especially good. i tip but i'm in the usa. i do appriciate good service and would tip in other countries too i bet.
