Friday’s Fave Five # 23.

springtime FF5

Oh I’ve had a very busy week and I’m really looking forward to just relaxing this weekend.  Thanks Susanne for hosting Favorite Five.  It’s an awesome way to look back on our week.

If you’re wondering what Fave Five is,  click here for more information.

So here are my five for this week:

1. A moving company that will not only pack and move you but will  go that step further and unpack every box and help you set up your new house.  For this,  I am truly thankful.  I don’t know anywhere else in the world where a moving company will do this, but I have learnt that in Thailand this is a service they provide. – Unbelievable!!

2.  My most basic needs are met.  Me and my family.  We have a roof over our heads, beds to sleep in at night and food to eat. We are blessed.  This move reinforced that.

3.  Walking to and from school.  I am loving this a lot.  My kids are not but I am.  To get out in the morning and walk is just a beautiful thing.

4.  Back to School Night.  I always look forward to this night at the beginning of the school year.  It’s great to revisit the elementary schools vision, meet new parents to the school and formally meet the girls teachers and listen to how they will work with our children and how we can help.

5.  A Hug, a hi-5 or a handshake.  These are the 3 different ways that Tanysha’s teacher say’s goodbye to them at the end of the school day.  I think it’s a neat thing to do with the kids. I’ve asked Tanysha if she’s every asked for a handshake?

I hope you had a great week.  And here’s hoping you have a happy weekend.

Here’s Another Reason why I love Him!

I have a great man for a husband.  He’s funny, reliable , thoughtful and he sure knows what makes me happy………. internet connection!!!

Yeah baby!  I thought I would be offline for a couple of days but my dear husband has made sure that I am connected.

I can’t stay long though (because I’m exhausted) but I  wanted to share a couple of pictures from my very very busy day but a very exciting one for us.

Anyway that’s all for today.  We have the other half to move tomorrow.  I’m tired and  my feet are hurting but I’m happy.

Happy that this day finally arrived and is now gone.

But happy indeed..

After One Week….

I’m still on the “30 Days to Green” band wagon.  30-days-green

And I’m stoked to say that I’m actually okay with drinking my salad!!   I wasn’t a week ago but now I’m okay with it!!  I’ve made my drinks diligently.  I’ve thrown everything and anything that I know (or imagined ) that would taste great together, and pulsated and pureed away.    But I must admit this,  that I have not had my drinks in glass bottles or glass cups.  It’s a little difficult to  see what I’m drinking.  A brownish/greenish smoothie is so not inviting.

Anyway I’m staying on the band wagon, although I don’t feel any different or look and feel different but I’m going to stick to it.

My concoctions are really just what I think will taste great together.  For the past week I’ve really had no “green, green” smoothie so I’ve decided that for this week well instead of the 2 cups of spinach or bok choy or kale it will have to be 4 cups.  (It actually worked today – today was my first green colored smoothie.

As for the other things we are suppose to do with drinking a green smoothie each day well..

my exercising is going well.  I’m actually more active, I’m amazed at myself.  The sugar thing well that is a hard one.  Hope to do better this week.  And for the soda, I’m getting there.  I have a sip here and there but never a full drink.

So there it is.  I’m going strong if I may say so myself.  I’m hoping to be a little more creative with my drinks and then kick the sugar and soda problem.

Just of on a tangent here  – the day has finally arrived for us to move(actually tomorrow is the day), so I may not have internet for a couple of days.  I hope to take lots of pictures of our move and of course our house, before and after.   I’ll share lots later!

# 3 – Happy Homemaker Monday.

HHM-new one

The weather in my neck of the woods:
Hot and humid……..  again.

One of my simple pleasures:
Having a cup of green tea in the morning after the kids are off to school. It’ just calming.

On my bedside table:
Lamp.  everything else is in a box read to be moved.

On my TV:
TV is off.

On the menu for tonight:
There will be no cooking tonight.  Actually I think for the whole week.   I’ll be working the phones for take out!!

On my To Do List:

* pay for after school activities (it is first come/first serve).

* pick up key for new house

* work with movers today.  Packing stuff to go to P.N.G

* Exercise for 30mins

New Recipe I tried last week:
Nothing new for dinner but lots of new creations for my Green Smoothies.

In the craft basket:
no time for crafting.

Looking forward to:
MAMA MIA this weekend.

Homemaking Tip for this week:
Got nothing right now.

Favorite Blog Post of the week (mine or other):
Actually it is not a single post but a blog that I’m enjoying very much.  Her post’s are simple yet so full of life, inspiration and warmth.  Francesca I’m enjoying your blog very much.

Go ahead, to check it out click here.

Favorite photos from last week:

DSCF7238 I’m wondering what my husband did to warrant that look.

DSCF7239but this is the look he had for me (maybe it’s because I have the camera!!!)

Lesson learned the past few days:  That it is okay to say no.  This is hard for me to do though.  I like to help people and sign up here and there to volunteer at school, in the community, at church etc but I forget to keep track and it can get overwhelming that my service is no longer done cheerfully.  So really it is okay to say “NO”.

Now I  just got to do it a little more often.

On my Prayer List:

Kids at school/teachers and new friends.

Husband at work and his work colleges.

Friends near and far.

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses

Be Thankful.  There is so much to be thankful for!  Even if it be something as natural as the breath we take.

Happy Week Everyone!

Friday’s Fave Five # 22

springtime FF5

Happy Friday Everyone.

It’s been busy today and my Friday is nearly over but I’ve got a Five for this week.

And here they are:

1.  Doing homework with my 5th grader.  It’s been fun to sit together with her and go through her days work, talk about her day and watch her do her homework.  I love it when it “clicks”.  Jus the excitement in her face is so satisfying for me.

2.  Finally feeling confident about using the gym equipment.  Gyms have always intimidated me.  Like major intimidation.  But I’m learning how to use each and every equipment and it’s so awesome.

3.  Having Coffee with a friend.  We had coffee at our local Starbucks and it was great to just chat.  Our husbands work for the same company and we are “travelling spouses” so we do have a lot in common.

4.  Bike Riding with my son.  It really is a great way to get some activity in.  And best of all my son loves it.

5.  Spinach.  My new favorite green food.  Even if I have to drink it it still tastes great.

So there it is.  My fave five for the week.  For more FFF visit Susanne.

It seems like a million and one things….

It’s been non stop crazy lately , getting through things, signing the kids up for after school activities, attending back to school meetings and on top of all that making sure that everything  is ready for our move next week.

Wow I can’t believe  that after nearly 9 whole months since I saw this house that we’ll  finally  be moving in  next week.

I still have a few more things to sort through at home,  papers/documents to be signed and paid for the move,  but it’s all good because I’m so ready to move on from my current house.

I’m really looking forward to this move because for me it’s an opportunity to start again.  To change something’s not only in my life but my family.

I’ve always looked at our moves as a family as opportunities to start a new and embrace change graciously.  Whether the move is  just down the street or across to the other side of the world we like to look at them as opportunities for a fresh start, for new beginnings.

And I love that.

Top Loader Vs Front Loader!

I get excited about new appliances. I love new household appliances.   I really do but then when I actually go out to the store to make my purchase, I get so overwhelmed that I end up just coming back home.  Because I wonder if it’s the best fit and best choice.

There is just so much to think about.  Not only Make and Model,  but as we have become more knowledgeable and information is just in abundance there is so much more to consider – efficiency, space, clothing life, cost,  ergonomics (yes I’ve been reading), and so on and so on.  So much more to consider.

Anyway my new landlord wants to buy a new washer and dryer before we move in.   And she has given us the green light to go ahead and pick one that we like and she’ll buy it.

Truth is,  I wish she would just go ahead and make the purchase for the house, but then again this is an opportunity that I don’t want to pass up.

So after reading up on everything “laundry”  I’ve decided to go ahead with a Front loading machine.  I’ve read such great reviews about front loaders vs. top loaders.  So a front loader it will be.

How about you – what type of a washing machine do you have?   A top loader or a front loader?

Now if only I could decide on the make!!

30 Days Green.

30-days-green I’m taking the challenge.  Oh yes I am.

Bonnie over at Simple Beauty and Pass the Beans Please is challenging us to Go Green for 30 Days.

When I read this I thought this had something  to do with the environment but it doesn’t.  Instead it has everything to do with you.  30 days to a healthier you I guess.

I’ve read the benefits from the comments posted here and I want in.  I want to try anything that will curb my cravings , actually anything for a healthier me.

This is going to be difficult for me.  You see I’m not that crazy about green food and so a green drink…. well I’m really challenging myself.

Anyway I will do it.  So here is what I’ll be trying today.

My first Green Smoothie will be a Strawberry Delight.  I like strawberries and banana and spinach so I thought I should give this one a go. (I have to like what I’m putting in the smoothie …. right…..)

Strawberry Delight.

2 cups water
1 pint strawberries
1 apple
1 banana
2 cups spinach

I found the above recipe here. Actually they had some good reading about Green Smoothies and the whole detoxing thing.

Anyway I’m hoping you join me and Bonnie and everyone else out there.

So this morning I got the girls off to school, came back home made my breakfast and sat down to watch CNN when there was a commotion outside.

The gardeners had come to clean and while doing so made a discovery.  I’ve never seen anyone move so fast! Anyway the old man working in front ran to the back after the other workers were talking (in Thai) so I had now clue what they were saying. Then all of a sudden all I could hear was the thumping of the ground.

When I decided to see what all the commotion was about I saw the old man with a grin on his face holding up a snake.  And a pretty big one I might add.

I am freaking out.  You see I don’t like snakes very much.  Actually I don’t like them period.  Don’t know if this one is dangerous but to me a snake is a snake.  And I don’t like ‘em.

So I don’t know if there are anymore out there but I’m not going to go looking.  But I do know one thing for sure – I won’t be going to the back anytime soon.  Not even into the pool!  And it’s so stinking hot right but  that’s how scared I am right now.

DSCF7889 If you are wondering where he took the snake too – I’m actually not sure but I hear that they like to eat them around here. (that maybe why he was smiling…. …..!)

It’s so hard to stay on track….

It really really is.  Especially when you have visitors.

My sister in law and her work mate arrived today from P.N.G  and will be in Thailand for the next couple for weeks for a course.  And as we do with all our guests we decided to take them downtown to show them around and have some lunch……. well not a very good idea especially when I’m counting calories.

Anyway  my counting got a bit fuzzy at lunch time and by the end of the day well it just went out the window.

I feel awful, I’m disgusted with myself.  I know it’s only one day but now I’m worried that tomorrow I won’t be able to forgive myself and refocus.

I know I have too but it’s always hard.  My clothes fit well (and so does my belt!!)  so I can’t let one day pull me down and keep me  down.  I’ve lost a total of 4.5 pounds since I started a month ago so I am doing something right?

Anyway here is what I had for lunch today….

mini tacos and

The Apple Crumble was delicious.  I can’t deny it.
