Punked! Not Once, but Twice!

I don’t like creep crawly things and my husband and girls know it too well.  But they decided to play a trick on me anyway.  Not once but twice!  And they had such a good laugh about it.

I first stumbled upon it while I was cleaning and putting things away.  He was just lying there eyeballing me.

GP #1

I tried to scare it away but it wouldn’t move.  And so I’m thinking to myself – oh no not a stubborn one.  So I left.  Left my cleaning and walked away.

Only to come back the next day to see if it was gone but he had moved.

Found some new friends.

GP #2And again it was just eyeballing me.  I tried to scare it away but to no avail.  I loose again.

So I called my momma to come and PLEASE take this thing away.  And like a good momma,  she got some tissue paper came up to it from the back and grabbed it.  I was outta there.  I was half-way up the stairs when I heard her burst out in laughter.  I didn’t understand what could be so funny, but all I could hear her saying was “it’s so hard, it’s so stiff”.  It’s not real!

What!  Let me see that thing!    You mean it’s not a real gecko!  And my husband  and girls knew it wasn’t even after I told them about the first sighting.  And he played along with my fear!!

Doesn’t this little guy look real too you?

gecko #1

Okay maybe his paws give him away just a little,  but com’n, he does look pretty real to me!!

We had a good laugh!!

Corner View # 3 – Modes of Transportation

This week’s theme for “Corner View”  is “Modes of Transportation.

In Bangkok there are many choices.  Personal car, a taxi (a whole host of colors - pink, green, purple and even orange), a boat, a motorcycle (motor-sai), the train, the sky train and the tuk-tuk – the three wheeled motorcycle.

But here is what we use .  The personal car.  It’s a Toyota Fortuner.

We are one more car to the millions that are here in Thailand – I have learnt that the “Car is King” in Thailand.  So many people, so many cars. Which explains the crazy traffic.

IMGP8067

We also use one of these…………..

I don’t play golf, (I’m thinking about learning how to play) but we do have a golf cart.  It has become so handy for us  in the community that we live in.  Especially when my husband needs the vehicle. We love it.

DSC01252

And of course we use our bikes but whenever we can…… we walk.

We walk a lot.

But here below are some pictures I took of the other modes of transportations that are used here in Thailand.  I haven’t been on any of these and before I leave this place I will make sure that I do.

Motor-sai.  They are great when you need to get around the traffic.  Also the most dangerous.  In my short time here I have seen too many motorcycle accidents.

So these are the modes of transportation available to us here in Thailand.

To see what other bloggers have posted head on over to Spain Daily. ( I’m sorry I have yet to figure out how to do all those links)

Thank you Jane  for such a great idea and being host.

I just have to say…..

survivor-tocantins

I watched Survivor last Friday ( a day later because of the time difference)  and I have to say,  I love the way that they blindsided Tyson.  Oh that was great stuff.  He was beginning to annoy me – not as much as  Coach is though,  but he was starting to get a little too confident.  So I’m happy that he was voted off.  It will be interesting to watch the next weeks.  I hope Coach is next, although his stories crack me up and he’s always talking in parables.  He’s a funny dude.  I’m also waiting to see how Sierra will use her new found power and confidence.

Can I also say – that it’s different seeing Tony Almeida as a  “bad guy”.   Yes I’m addicted to “24”.   It is becoming a little predictable but I’ll still watch.

Is Jack going to die?  Is Kim, his daughter going to help him, or is Jack going to steal the canister back from Tony and use it to get a cure for him?

Can’t wait!! 24

Friday’s Fave Five – # 8

springtime FF5

I love Fridays.  I love that the busy school and work week  comes to an end and we can look forward to family time together.

I’m also enjoying it because I participate  in Friday’s Fave Five.  This is a place to come  and think back over your week and  post 5 favorite things from your week.  This does help me look back on my week and count my blessings.

Some weeks it’s a little difficult to come up with five and other times well there are just so many so many to pick from.  And this is one of those weeks.  But I will keep it to five!!  To join in on the fun or just read other’s Fave Five click on over to Susanne's at Living To Tell the Story.

Here’s my Five for the Week:

1.  Smiles and Laughs.  Seeing the smiles on my parents faces and hearing them laugh as they spend time with my children.  This is the longest amount of time that my children have ever spent with their grandparents.  All my kids were born outside of my home country (P.N.G),  which means they were all born away from my mum and dad and family.  So it makes me so happy that they are spending this time with them.  Obviously it isn’t under the best of circumstances with Dad being sick and all  but it is wonderful. Priceless.

2.  Being Content.  Every where you turn there is so much advertising.  So much of “you need this or you need that”.  And so I’m glad that I have learnt, (and still learning)  to be content.  Don’t get me wrong I struggle with wanting this and wanting that.  And so every now and then I make sure to slow down and step back, take a deep breath and be content.  To just be. And this week I was able to do that.

3.  Yoga.  I’m enjoying yoga.  I really am.  In the beginning I was a bit nervous about practicing yoga because it’s roots are in Hindu Culture.  But it is helping me.  I look at yoga as learning a series of techniques to reduce stress, do gentle stretching and learning to relax.  It has helped me to relax and focus a lot more.  I’m seeing so many benefits from doing yoga , not just physically but mentally too.

4.  This book “The Jesus Storybook Bible”.  I love this book.  I love that my children love it too.  We love to read and learn from it.  It is so well written. Very simply,  but  nothing has been taken away.  It is just wonderfully done. In also  reminds me to constantly approach God’s Word with a childlike faith.

story book bible

5. Susan Boyle.  You’ve  probably all seen the video already and I’m the last person too. I loved it how she surprised not only the judges but the audience with her voice.  It was priceless to see Simon and Pierce’s reaction.  It does go to show that you can never judge a book by it’s cover.  Click on Susan’s name if you haven’t seen the video yet.  Enjoy.

Have a great weekend everyone.  To read more Fave Five’s head on over to “Living to Tell the Story”.

Thanks Susanne for hosting Friday’s Fave Five.

So I was watching CNN today while swinging my son to sleep in his baby hammock when I heard them reporting that there is a new Disney princess.   A new princess!  You see as a momma for girls I have to keep up with these things!!

Anyway the  new movie “The Princess and the Frog”  isn’t  due till later this year.

But a new Princess –oh  my girls will be excited!!

And the best thing about it -  she’s different.    I am all for diversity.  I think  it’s great!.

Favorite Blog post of the Week: (mine of other):

I don’t have one single blog. Actually there were a heap of blogs that I visited this week after I joined in on the fun of “Corner View” hosted by Jane at “Spain Daily”. The premise is to post a picture from your corner of the world – wherever you are. It’s exciting to see such great pictures and such a neat way to travel the world.

Head on over there to join in on the fun and see what picture it will be this week.

Favorite photos from last week:

I actually have 3 photos.  First one:

Lessons learned the past few days:

I’m still working at trying to habitually read my bible.  I’m not the most disciplined person when it comes to reading my bible.  It’s like I know what I should do but just don’t or can’t. So I don’t feel like I’m ready to move on from this lesson yet.  I’m trying to create a plan, see when is the best time for me to read – the mornings or the evenings?

Lesson Learned - I love to read and so often I pick up books that I really enjoy reading about God through other people’s lives and experiences and what they have learnt about God, or what God did in their lives. It’s great and it’s wonderful to learn from others but I’m realizing that I cannot experience God fully through someone else’s experiences. I need to seek God for myself and experience Him the way He wants me too. And this can only really be done by reading the Bible – myself. Getting lost in it and asking God to show me what he means. I need to get back the the basics of spending time reading the bible.

On My Prayer List:

Dad final chemo sessions

My husband who will be away for a couple of days – boo hoo

My children

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verse:

This bible verse:

9And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father [have personal knowledge of Him, be acquainted with, and understand Him; appreciate, heed, and cherish Him] and serve Him with a blameless heart and a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts and minds and understands all the wanderings of the thoughts. If you seek Him [inquiring for and of Him and requiring Him as your first and vital necessity] you will find Him; but [a]if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever!

1 Chronicles 28:9 (translation from Amplified Bible – bold and italics my own)

And this quote:

In Youth we learn, In age we understand.

Marie Von Ebner-Eschenbach.
